The Story

G-SHOCK, the watch that brought  the new concept of  toughness to the timepiece.It began with a reckless challenge  to the conventional wisdom of the day, a developer’s belief that  it was possible to construct a watch  that wouldn’t break, even if dropped, Project Team Tough was formed  to build it in 1981.

The team created  over 200 prototypes  one after another over a period  of about two years.They finally arrived at  a shock-resistant structure. This marked  the birth of a technology  that is tough to the core.And G-SHOCK has  continued its unceasing  evolution ever since,  in pursuit of greater toughness  in every respect,from structure  and materials to functions.

Today, the development team’s  passionate challenge and constant efforts  have reached fruition  in Triple G Resist, a structure with the strength  to withstand 3 types  of gravitational acceleration.In its pursuit of usability  under any circumstances,  moreover, G-SHOCK realized installation  of Smart Access,  a system assuring agile,  reliable operability.Stronger than ever,  and targeting even greater strength, G-SHOCK’s challenge is never-ending.

The Product

The watch is designed and engineered for wear and use by those whose work takes them into areas scattered with rubble, dirt, and debris. The new models pack solar-powered operation into dirt and mud-resistant configurations.

The rugged designs of these watches are in the image of the special-purpose vehicles and tools that are used by disaster relief teams. Wide hour and minute hands and large Arabic numeral hour markers provide easier reading under harsh conditions, and the band has a distinctive non-slip texture, rounding out a tough no-nonsense design. These new MUDMASTER models are the perfect choice for anyone who requires tough performance under tough conditions.

The creative framework
The work on G‑SHOCK centered on building a bold, rugged, and high‑energy visual identity aligned with the brand’s global heritage in durability and street culture. Through refined branding, digital content, and visual storytelling, I brought forward a uniquely modern aesthetic tailored for G‑SHOCK’s target audience — trend‑driven, urban, and tech‑aware.
The campaign’s visual direction leveraged high‑contrast compositions, sharp graphical accents, and motion‑driven formats that amplified the product’s toughness narrative. This fresh approach resonated strongly across digital touchpoints, helping modernize the brand’s regional presence.
